Attendant Program

Independent living is living just like everyone else. It is being able to make choices about your life. If you have a disability and require help with tasks to live independently, you may qualify for LINC’s Attendant Services program.  Attendant services is when a person is hired to assist a person with daily tasks. Tasks might include eating, dressing, bathing, getting in and out of bed, or reading mail.

You may be eligible if you are, 18 and older, meet nursing facility level of care, qualify for Medicaid, choose home and community based services, and have the ability to direct your own care.  You can establish and maintain a working relationship with minimal interference from LINC.  You choose your attendant.  You are in control of your attendant services

Our attendants have a diverse background, but must pass a criminal background check and complete a health screening.  Our attendants are not required to have a C.N.A (Certified Nursing Assistant) or work with a supervising nurse.  Many of our attendants are family members. Attendants receive competitive wages, unemployment and workers compensation insurance. LINC provides on-going safety and information training. We value the hard work of our attendants.

LINC is different from traditional home health agencies because:

  • We are a non-profit organization that helps people achieve their desired level of independence

  • We actively work to free people from institutions and reside in their own homes.

  • We advocated with Health and Welfare and the legislature to create customer directed attendant services and eliminate the C.N.A. requirement for attendants.  (If you wish to hire a C.N.A. you may still do so.

As a fiscal intermediary, LINC handles all the confusing paperwork, takes care of tax withholdings and benefits for attendants, provides assistance in recruiting, managing, and training attendants, and provides other independent living services like peer support and advocacy with no cost.

Other services available include:

  • Homemaker Services (help around the house)

  • Chore (yard work, home repair, heavy housework, sidewalk repair)

  • Respite (relief services or non-paid full time attendants)

  • Private Pay option for customers who do not qualify for Medicaid.
