Don’t Let the System Talk You Out of It.

Let’s be real: living on SSDI can feel like surviving, not thriving.

Maybe you're young, motivated, and fed up with being told to “stay on benefits and play it safe.” Maybe you’ve been told not to risk working because you’ll lose everything—your check, your healthcare, your sense of security.

But here’s the thing they don’t tell you: you have more options than they make it sound like. And you’re allowed to want more for your life. Wanting a job, a paycheck, and a purpose doesn’t make you ungrateful. It makes you powerful.

At LINC, we work with young Idahoans with disabilities who are ready to shift the story. Whether you’re 19 or 34, tired of sitting at home, or ready to build a career on your own terms—we’re here to back you up.

Here’s the truth: You can explore work without giving up everything. You can start small. You can make mistakes. You can build your future.

That’s what the Ticket to Work program is for.

Ticket to Work is a free, voluntary program through Social Security. It’s designed for people just like you—people on SSDI who want to try working but don’t want to crash their whole safety net. It connects you to real people (like our team at LINC) who will walk you through it—step by step, no judgment, no pressure.

We’ll help you:

·        Understand how much you can earn without losing benefits right away

·        Keep your healthcare while you figure it out

·        Build a resume that actually shows what you’re capable of

·        Find a job that fits your goals—not someone else’s idea of what you should be doing

Working isn’t just about the money. It’s about independence. It’s about having a reason to get up. It’s about calling your own shots.

Because here’s what nobody told us growing up: Living with a disability doesn’t mean living quietly. You’re allowed to want a job. A house. A dog. A life with adventure, challenge, purpose. And yes—you’re allowed to mess it up and try again.

That’s what independence looks like. That’s what LINC stands for.

We’re not here to lecture you. We’re not another agency with a clipboard and a checklist.

We’re a Center for Independent Living, run by and for people with disabilities. We’ve been where you are—and we know how good it feels to take back control.

So if you’re young, on SSDI, and hungry for something more—call us. Text us. Slide into our DMs. Whatever works.

Let’s build a plan that fits your life.
