Reliable Transportation Helps People Live Independently

Transportation is more than a way to get from one place to another. For many people, it is a connection to employment, education, healthcare, appointments, and community activities.

Recently, Idaho News 6 highlighted concerns about proposed changes to Valley Regional Transit (VRT) services in Nampa. The City of Nampa’s proposed FY2027 budget currently removes funding for VRT services, which could impact Route 40, Route 42, VRT On-Demand, and VRT Access services in Nampa beginning October 12, 2026, if the budget is adopted as proposed.

The story features Andrew, a LINC consumer and graduate of our S.A.L.T. (Self-Advocacy Leadership Training) program. Andrew shares his experience and explains why dependable transportation is important for people who rely on public transit to maintain independence and stay connected to their communities.

At LINC, we know that transportation access plays an important role in helping people with disabilities pursue their goals and make their own choices. Public transportation options, including accessible services, provide opportunities for people to work, attend school, access healthcare, and participate in everyday activities.
